Crabapple Trunk Chopped
Need help!! I trunk chopped a crabapple early spring this year. I had it covered with a plastic bag since I chopped it and it's been growing shoots all over. I noticed that if I take off the bag for just even a day, the shoots go limp and dry. The shoots now are about 2-3 inches long.
When is it safe to take off the bag permanently?
When should I get the tree from the greenhouse to full sun?
thanks in advance!

Re: Crabapple Trunk Chopped
Did you also trim the roots or dig the tree out of the ground this spring? Are there any holes in the bag to allow ventilation? Not knowing anything about this situation really, I would put a few holes (maybe about quarter sized) in the bag every couple weeks to allow the leaves to harden off. Then take the bag off.
If you used the bag to prevent die back of the trunk there are products to seal cuts that you could purchase or next time just cut above the ideal point then trim off later after things settle down some.
