Cape Honeysuckle Question Empty Cape Honeysuckle Question

Post  -Jamie- Sun Jun 05, 2016 6:30 pm

Anyone have any experience working with Cape Honeysuckle in a colder climate? I bought this in San Diego, but live in New York City, and I'm not sure what type of wintering it needs? Can I just bring it inside when it starts getting cold, and keep it indoors, or does this type of tree need a cool winter, albeit not as cold as I have here? I've read a bit online, but I seem to get only conflicting information.

It would be easiest for me to just bring it inside when the temp starts dropping, but I wasn't sure if this would harm it.

Thanks!

Anyone? I suppose my question might just be about the necessity of cold for sub-tropicals. Do these really need cool winters, or can they be brought inside intro regular indoor temperatures then?

It is native to South Africa, where it grows in the tropics. I suspect it would not cope with a NY winter outside, and would need a load of light all year round.
