I finally have a Bonsai

I bought myself a beautiful 20-25cm Chinese Elm Bonsai from Cat & Darren at Bonsai By Design.
For first time buyers like myself I highly recommend checking them out for yourself .
I was worried at first, having thoughts on how does one wrap and package then box a tiny wee tree to post the other end of the country. It was perfect, probably favored being all cozied up in a cocoon than the chilly bite of our Scottish weather lol
I haven't worked out the pics posting thing, but I will get one of Miyagi here soon!

up until the time of this post about your first tree, shouldnt your screen name have been something more like "bonsailess jay"

and then, once you had acquired a tree, then changing it to "bonsai jay"...

On another note, do you name your Bonsai? Or is it wierd?
As not only named my Chinese Elm, Ive gone and named each of the 90 seeds I labled & planted as well!
I was bored one night

Name them if you want to.Not weird at all.My memory for 90 names might flag a little,but,hey,I'm old. And welcome to IBC.

Mine have names like "The Gum Springs Meadow Cedar", "The Bull Road Willow", "The Pocono Pitch Pine", etc.

lol no, I stick a cocktail stick with a wee sticker with date planted, tree type and a given name

re: naming trees... i only name special ones that have actually become something.
i think i would be even more heartbroken had i named the ones i killed,
or the ones that, more tragically, committed suicide... those poor mixed up kids

Not Bonsailess Jay anymore! lol The lighting is rubbish, but its nighttime so Miyagi is tired and not at his most photogenic

I ... left him at my mums last week, that was the delay - I attempted to hide that I forgot him, as it doesn't give the impression of being committed to Bonsai leaving him behind the first time I take him with me overnight lol
Lets call it his Easter holidays, and brush the forgetting under the rug as if I was a politician
