Black Pine Looking Sad

Hello! I'm new to the forum and I decided to register and join the community because my black pine tree which I've been growing from a seed for the past 2 years has recently been looking very weak. It's been inside all winter and I'm worried I didn't give it a dormancy period and was wondering if I should stick it in the fridge or leave it outside. It's quite cold now and NYC just got hit with a ton of snow.

It used to have very shiny and strong pointy needles but I just noticed tonight it's needles looked thin and frail and some of the tips were brittle and would crack when pulled. I never pruned the tree because I never read anywhere that I should under 2 years but the tree started sprouting in about April of 2014. I got nervous and decided to prune a bit of the tree but all I really did was end up clearing all of the needles from the bottom third of it and a few from the top and middle thirds. Needless to say my tree is looking very sad. I was planning on repotting it in February but perhaps I should do it now?

Can someone HALP this tree is very important to me and I'm a total newb at this stuff.

A pine with brittle needles is typically a dead pine.
A pine grown indoors is, without very specific cnonditions, typically a dead pine within a year or two
A pine pushed from warm conditions into frost is a very unhappy pine

I would say.. Start preparing for bad news.
But do post somepictures to get an idea of the state of thiings

Its a sad thing Any thing I can do to try and save it? Should I give it more sunlight less sunlight? I don't water it that much but I make sure it's relatively moist. The soil looks dry but its because I just added a bit of new soil. I've been dry fertilizing it but perhaps that's where I went wrong. At this point I'm convinced it was due to improper climate conditioning. I was afraid to leave it outside for too long since I had no way of protecting it from birds or heavy wind in the summer. As you can see it's pretty weak and I don't think on track with a near two year seedling.

Perhaps I should just try again. This little guy had some serious sentimental value to me and I let em' down.

We'll see how the rest of the winter pans out but is there anything anyone things I should do?

Does not look too bad, imho. I ave seen the snow you have been getting; The best place for it would be frost-free, with lots of sunlight. If you leave it outside in fall, it should have no problems with the weather you are having over there.

So when you say frost free should I stick it outside in the sun during the day if its warm enough? What about watering it or leaving it inside in the sun?
