Never had or seen a bonsai before
Hi,
I am a nature lover. After looking at the cute bonsais, I got very much interested in making my own bonsai. Very real and serious interest. I realise the patience and love required. I do not want to buy a ready made one! I hope to learn a lot by creating my own bonsai.
Please guide me how to do this. I stay in Abu Dhabi, UAE, normally a hot, humid area with summer from end of April to Mid of November. Rains only for 15 days in months nov/dec. Winter from Dec to April. Since winter is approaching along with rains I hope to make a start now.
Kindly guide me which trees i have to gather and how to start. Or the best help will be able to find some bonsai-er in Abu Dhabi so that I can meet him personally and become his/her student.
Thank you very much,
Zia.

You could start by giving the Bonsai Japanese Restruant there a call, they might be able to guide you to local clubs. Tel: 02-4434807

I know nothing of the geography or the botany of Abu Dhabi, but your best bet will be to work with a native tree or shrub. These will be adapted to your climate and environment. Failing that, you also could use a plant that has been widely and successfully introduced and that isn't kept alive only because of massive use of water or fertilizers.
I look at the Bonsai Clubs International website and its worldwide club listing and find nothing in your immediate area. BCI
