HI,

I have been asking about getting a Bonsai for many years. This morning I had a delivery of what I thought to be flowers, but instead, inside was a Bonsai. The company that sent it are an internet company and they have not sent ANY details about my tree. I really want to learn as much as I can about this tree so that I don't kill the poor thing. Any advice would be so gratefully received
Thanks in anticipation!

i thought tiger bark ficus... because of the striations on the bark and the leaf shape...
but i could be wrong.

either way they would be treated the same

Keep them moist, yes; wet NO!

Two names for same plant. Also known as ficus retusa and ficus microcarpa (and many others, Rolling Eyes )

As to keeping moist, I would err on the side of dry. I've seen ficus in jungles and near-desert conditions, and I've never killed one by dry conditions, only wet.

The correct name is Ficus microcarpa. I agree you probably have the cultivar 'Kinmen,' the tiger bark fig. Full sun. Keep it outdoors except if it goes below freezing.
