Hello all!

Last spring I did some moderate branch pruning on my Chinese Elm and sealed the cuts with petroleum jelly shortly after. (I may have used a bit too much in some places)

I have this material indoors all year round and it has adapted beyond expectations. It is also constantly growing.. that being said. I have allowed it to grow on it's on until a few days ago. I failed to notice, because of the over growth, that the bark under the jelly looks significantly healthier, greener and smoother than the areas that were not covered.

This is a first for me and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this.. weather it is good or if there may be a sign for something down the road (highly doubt it but better ask and be informed just in case).

Thank you in advance fellas!

It probably looks that way because it is newer.
