Pretty tree, but for the long-term health of the tree, I think you need more pot.

I agree.

And about the tree species, i love hazel because of several reasons. Its native here (and where you live), its a strong grower, it carries nuts, and it has a beautiful bushy growth habitus... But since hazel is such a strong grower by nature, its better if you can use that and allow some strong growth so medium to larger size bonsai would be best. But i appreciate your effort, and using hazel for bonsai; i have 2 myself of which one i really need to put in the ground again for several years
