Great job up to now
Didn't look like much in the beginning, but obviously you saw potential, and what you saw was good! ThumbsUp

It is turning into a pine tree. scratch
IMHO, cut it back and design it into a tropical tree. You can start up to the third branch.

Jun,

it may be the ugly bend he is trying to deal with, that is causing the pine effect?
Might just be better to bite the bullet and cut it off, regrowing a new top?
Stay Well.

It has a straight initial/base trunk typical to fukien tea. then an upper "s curve" It wont fit the final design I think. There should be continous flow of design from bottom to top. That is why I suggested to cut it back more right after the third (or fourth) branch and start a new apex from that point, with ramification suitable for a tropical tree. That way the S curve won't be too obvious.
Well, That is just my opinion.
