Walter has sold images on a 'sell your photos' website for quite some time. How they are used is in the websites terms and conditions. They cannot be used to 'resell' the image as in as calender or postcards unless a particular fee is payed.

I see no issue with using this image apart from the fact that it is sort of misleading to think that you could grow this tree from the seeds supplied! ... you COULD... but really?

But actually his name is then also used misleading.
I do not think this has paid for because Photo 2 is very bad quality.

what i would do, is inform Walter so he can check up on it :-) maybe you'll get one of his bonsai in return

the site Walter sells his pictures frequently is Shutterstock

PS: i understand what you're saying, and think its noble to take it up for copyrights, i do that too

You are right to bring attention to this.

I would imagine that most Bonsai Community KNOW that this is one of Walters trees.. we also know that Walter has NOTHING to do with this practice, should his actually name be attached to the image that would be a totally different matter.

You only need to look at Ebay Bonsai Seeds to see how endemic the practice is.

well i I was a smart bonsai artist, i would regularly pick out some of these endemic practices and check, and them demand some kind of remuneration or law suit.... could be a real business tthere no? nice endemic practice actually, they make money for you, you only have to threaten them
