You have a beautiful idea, but you have not thought the solution “mother-son” ?

Hi Smitty,
You did a nice job planting this tree with the stones and moss. I, too, wonder why you didn't leave it as a "Parent and child" planting. From you first picture it looks like a natural for this kind of style.
Best,
Todd

Re: Unwanted Larch
I did see exactly what the original tree was like. It did nothing for me so wasn't going to stay in my garden . Yes it could make a mother and daughter , but a poor one . I have not enough room for trees that do nothing for me . Remember you are only seeing that tree in 2D . In 3D it is not a good tree.
I tried to sell this tree but nobody wanted it , maybe everybody else didn't like it also.

Re: Unwanted Larch
Smithy, would it be possible to have a photo with the whole tree in the frame? I'm only seeing the base and rock and the beginnings of the branches. Thanks!

Hi Smithy,
I understand this very well, infact I feel so strongly about it that I feel material should produce something really interesting that will keep my soul happy otherwise if it doesn't then I do not want it. Interesting to me at present involves even what others would call ugly, like extreme deadwood, extraordinary trunk and movement etc. I only remember trees that make a huge impact. I love trees that evoke wilderness, darkness, harshness and torture (must be the miserable summer we've had and the coming dark winter within me talking). I fear at times that even what I have will eventually bore me but I guess there is always the makita and a saw.
I like your trees Smithy.
Cheers,
Adam

Re: Unwanted Larch
*sigh* all those.. Why didn't you do..
I love what you have done here. Looks very natural, and hard to assess the size of the plant (Except for the bud/branches which tells me it can be more than a few inches) which is exactly what you'd like for a bonsai. Very nice; If you tire of this, please mail to Germany.

Thank you Smithy, I can see it all now.
I can imagine this tree in 5 years, it will be wonderful to watch it grow older.

Re: Unwanted Larch
Definitely not what I was expecting after seeing the original tree, but I think you've created something quite nice. Well done!
