"New" Japanese Kamuikotan stone

Post  rdennis on Tue Nov 20, 2012 8:24 pm

This is a new acquisition and I think it is a very nice stone. The size is 4" L x 1.75" H x 1.25 "D.

The daiza and kiri box were made by Art of the Daiza.

Nice acquisition, according to me the daiza is a little bit too thick. Feets are very well displayed even if they are 4 on the front. I prefer daiza more dark but the color is really well made and uniform. How much for the stone, and for the stand?

Thank you for your comments and I do appreciate what you are saying; however, I must disagree on the daiza. I think it is perfect for this stone at least to my untrained eye. Two of the feet are actually more to each side rather than right on the front. I do appreciate that two people can look at the same thing and each have a different viewpoint. But then isn't that what art is all about.

I prefer not to quote what I was charged for the daiza. I met the carver of the daiza on line and we have become friends. I think it best if he were to quote his prices rather than me. I find his work to be reasonable particularly since I can't do it myself--yet. My friend can be found online @ artofthedaiza.com. He is making me another daiza for a very oddly shaped stone as I write this. Can't wait to see it.

Hi rdennis

I like the stone with the elegant daiza.....4 legs in the front is not a problem, if the stone say, this is what will work....3 legs would have been one too few....witch one should have been left out?.....This is what I see in the photo...to decide diffrent would I have to see the stone from the buttom.
The kiribox is nice.....Is the stone cut?

Kind regards Yvonne
