Olive Yamadori first styling

I purchased this olive almost two years ago and have just been letting it grow. This weekend i will hopefully (weather permitting) give it it's first styling. The only thing i have done in the past is raise the apex on the tallest trunk up, it used to be a side branch.
Thought i would put it up for any ideas.
It is a three trunk tree and the problem that i face is wether it should have only one apex? I know this has been spoken about but i feel each tree is different. the lowest growth on the short trunk has been left there as the trunk is very straight and this breaks it slightly.
Any idea's welcome.
I will post pics on monday to show you how it went, much wiring is going to take place.

Looks like a good start on your styling. I think I would take a look at removing the far right trunk. It's not so interesting, and for me detracts from the rest of the image. Or perhaps you can use it as a deadwood trunk? Less is more....

Great first styling on this Olive, nice clean lines! Since the bottom right trunk has a big scar facing the front and it is very straight without taper, it's one you may want to think about removing at some point. A consideration would be.. would it affect the root base on that side of the tree, would those roots die back? Sometimes it's nice to have a visual of what it may look like.

at first glance - 3rd trunk poor so best removed, upper sections of other trunks quite parallel so I'd shorten them both, especially as olive will make plenty of buds everwhere. Then you get a better tapered main trunk, short powerfull secondary trunk and it will be possible to grow the foliage into a balanced image.

I agree and it is why i always had growth in front of it. Now it has been opened so something i need to think about.

Your virt has given me something to think about, I need to decide on remove or deadwood the third trunk as there is some deadwood at the back of the tree. Then make a decision on what remains.

Hi Brett the twin trunk option is one pathway. But why not interpret the tree as mother nature has created it, i.e. triple trunk. Each of the main trunks have many branches and it would not be a problem to use them to create the triple trunk style. I think that you should bend downwards the branches to make the olive look older and in conformity with the mature bark texture. Some deadwood to reduce the heights of the second and especially the third trunk (smallest one) is needed. This is my opinion and another pathway.

This is what i saw when i did the first styling, it is not to say the twin trunk is not a bad idea and i have to agree with the points they have raised. But i would like to try and keep it a triple trunk as that is what i saw when it was dug. I am for now going to develop the little trunk and "carve some taper" bending the branches down as you have suggested. Thaks for the input i really appreciate it.
