I saw the deer/deadwood accent at the Swindon show. Loved it then, love it now.

Honestly, if I could attain the calibre and level of expertise of these trees I would die a happy man! Wow!!!
I particularly like the stag on the crag and the simple scroll with the pine. What am I saying ... I like them all! Very Happy
Best,

Wow, that was fast Chris ! Thanks.

It was good to have seen you and Jerry. Hope you had a good day ?

Speaking as an organiser of the show, the show in terms of qualty of exhibits, and numbers of visitors, greatly exceeded my expectations. Hard to believe that such a long established Society hadn't had a show like that for a couple of decades. Maybe we should repeat it next year ?

Hopefully I'll get around to posting some pictures too, and details of our 2012 "mystery event" soon. Cheers.

Thanks Russell. The tree in question is I believe a Swamp Cypress (Taxodium Distichum)and is owned by Malcolm, a stalwart member of the Bristol BS.

Thanks Mark.

What a beautiful tree. I could take pictures of huge bald cypress that look like this all day long locally. Very typical of what we see here as young to middle-aged cypress trees, both wild and planted. Sadly, we here in the States tend to go for a more aged, flat top look and forget about this very pleasing phase of a cypress's life. Good for Malcolm, really well done! I'd love to see winter pictures of this tree.

Chris, this White Pine has been in the ownership of myself and my better half, Ritta, for many years.
It has nearly outgrown it's Dan Barton pot now.
Thanks.

PS I wish I had half the talent of my dear friend Hans. Smile

Awesome, sorry about the confusion, but I found both Bonsai's to have a similar shape, for a second I though it was the "elephant" but yes, now that you mentioned, yours its a white pine and Hans its a larch Shocked but like I said, a very stunning tree you own. Congrats!

I was going to ask about this tree, but Russell beat me to it. I've never seen a bald cypress in nature, but this looks like some of the redwoods and sequoias I've seen in California. Love it, very beautiful, natural appearance.

Thanks for the close-ups! Do you recall the approximate height of that tree? Maybe 3 feet?

Also, what species is the tree in your first photo? At first I thought it was a pine, but upon closer inspection the foliage looks more like a juniper.

That's funny Chris, I was going to ask about that one also. Hinoki?

That cypress is REALLY nice!

It is an Hinoki, and has been in the care of a BBS member, Mo, for many years. The foliage is really compact and tight. Dan Barton pot.
