In an effort to find new material,i decided to dig this little shrub off to see how it reacts in a pot.So far so good,it doesnt show any negative signs it works ok(it was picked up nearly 50 days ago)...Maybe its not something special but surely if you find the right stuff i am sure you can make something out of it.This little bush in Cyprus is a popular Herb and it makes a very nice and healing tea.In the next fotos you see the shrub a year later....

A follow up of this little shrub,after a year......It developed quite well,gave it a heavy pruning twice this year already,but today i decided to do something more drastic.....[img][/img]This the front i thought i would keep,but the right straight branch was a drawbag...the next picture shows another movement of the trunk which i liked more....[img][/img]So...there goes that branch and this is what we are left with....[img][/img][img][/img].....
Anybody has any information about this species?Your comments please....Thx a lot Savvas....

Nice little tree is coming there.
I have seen those curled sage shrubs many times in the mediterranean and thought about the possibilities.
One has to take in account the softer wood (like potentila) but i think they make lovely bonsai
and surely something special on there own.
Those leaves will get smaller i think.
Here one sees sometimes Rosmarinus as bonsai as well.
My own experience with sage is one little mame i had for a few years so i can not tell you anything
but our mediterranean members will have experience.
Please show us the flowering sage in the coming months.

Hi Savvas,

As you mentioned, it is important to experiment with native species as they grow much easier in their native climate. The tree has a beautiful trunk. The only drawback is that its branches are very brittle and it is very difficult to wire it. One of the "plus" of this tree is that you do not waste any leave as you can boil them and make a delicious hot drink (with some honey added mmmmmmm).

One concern: let us see how it will react to repotting.

Thx for the replies guys.....Yes Sunip you are right,some of this aromatic shrubs have very good features and can become very good bonsais...Stavro they reacted ok when they were dug out,next year we will see in repotting,i predict that they will be ok..

So in your climate you took it out of the ground end of febr.
Did you took the whole rootball or did you removed the old soil?
I remember some of those herbs do not like to much root disturbance.

Very nice Sage tree; the veins look almost identical to Rosemary.

Sunip,to be quite honest with you,where we do most of our yamadoring is limestone mountains in which all the vegetation is eaten by ships and goats,so its very seldom that you find all the root ball...nevertheless i got enough roots yes....and as you can imagine there was no tap root so i quess that helped.....[img][/img][img][/img].....now you know what i mean yes....

On a second thought, instead of royalties, i would consider the tree instead of money
