My 12-Year Old Hero Empty My 12-Year Old Hero

The young lad in my profile photo was 18 months at the time. Currently, he is 12 years old. Grandma and I have always been amazed at his good nature, his acceptance of the rules of polite society, and his drive to be his best. TaeKwondo, football, baseball, school, etc. This summer he decided he was going to open a lawn care business so that he could save up for some things he wanted. He printed up some introductory fliers and walked them up and down the streets of his neighborhood and began receiving call backs.

At the same time, his father bought a truck, trailer, riding mower and other equipment to start a sideline lawn care business. (Larger scale)

Donovan got 5 or 6 steady customers. During the recent drought, he signed on with several of them to water plants, trees and some lawns. His first week he earned over $200. The first thing he did was to pay his tithing. Then he put the rest aside for the purchases he was planning.

Most boys his age have their brains glued to their X Box.

So far, he amazes the heck out of me.

A couple of weeks ago, his dad, mom, grandma and I were discussing how it was that Donovan was having all this success while dad was still without clients.

Donovan's response ... "Dad, you can come to work for me!"

Like I said, he's my hero!

I'll put a good word for you, Fiona.

At present, I'm trying to kindle some interest in wee trees!

If he is not interested, at least ask him to be on the lookout for something worthy saving/collecting. Wink
