I have a couple bonsai that need watered about every other day or every third day. I'm going on
vacation for 4 days. If I water them and then cover the pot and soil with plastic do you think that would
be ok for the duration?

Are they inside or out? If out, water them very well with a drip tray under them and set them in the shade and out of the prevailing wind.

If inside, put a drip tray under them, water well, and set them away from a window and any heater vent or radiator, etc.

The plastic would be OK, but do NOT let the sun shine on it! Or put it where indoor heat can flow around it

They should do fine. Just water as soon as you get home. One day is unlikely to damage them.
