remodeled viewing nook

Hi IBC.

I would like to share with you my little viewing nook which I remodeled recently.
This is where I placed some of my trees that I wanted to see everyday. then when I got bored with a particular tree, I send it back to my garden a few kilometers away and take another one as replacement.

my cat "Mr. Mao" seems to like his new spot.


The large "Phempis acidula" on the rock being developed... Can't move this big boy easily, So he is a fixed character in the nook.

Did you make the concrete stands yourself? Poured in a mold on site? How high are they?

Yes, This is a different place . this is in my house and where I kept some better trees, The one you visited is my garden and office area.

Hi Billy.

the concrete stands are actually modified concrete pipes, much cheaper than to be personally produced. Height is from 75cm to 1 meter. very stable.

Very sweet. Great improvement. I think having a wall as a backdrop really adds too view bonsai in a garden.
This is the way to appreciate the art. I bet you find it relaxing to go and look at the trees after a tough day in the trenches.

I think we all start out with benches that are way too crowded to be able to appreciate each as an individual display. Your new revision really helps feature the individual. nicely done

The first thing i see before I get to my office is my bonsai garden,,,the first thing I see is this small garden before I enter my house after the days work...sometimes I spend a couple of minutes trimming the trees before I go inside my house...bonsai first before the wife. hehehe.

...yes I guess so. the problem I found with benches is our tendency to fill every space with trees. In the beginning, few well arranged trees first, then within short period of time we'll try to squeeze few more smaller trees in between, very unsightly and sometimes unhealthy for the trees.

There's no need to put a platform, the stand is wide enough. for any pot. for the several monkey poles the base is needed before placing a wide pot.

Yes Todd. Full sun from 7 AM until 2PM. shaded in the afternoon. My sunlight measuring gauge in there is my large Phempis acidula. which is thriving in the area for almost two years now. if Phempis acidula thrive in a certain area any other tree that needs sunlight can surely survive too.

but occasionally all the other trees were sent back to the bonsai farm. two to three months maximum stay in my nook.

I think FM has a point there, what about something like those nice stone slabs on the ground
could they be placed on the stands to give a horizontal element and support the pots?

Yes Guys that would look lovely and elegant. but my point of not putting a platform is more on practicality. I need to have an access to the trees at the back.
I'll do it if the area is a bit bigger.

for reference on the scale, look at the two side by side slabs on the ground, left side area.
