Always an early flowering tree...

Lovely Cornus John. How long have you been working on this one?

I've got a couple of C. kousa that look very similar. I've grown them from seed and they have been in the ground for several years. They've only just started flowering and were lifted last year and heavily reduced. They will take a few more years to look good, but the roots and trunk development are promising.

Kev, I've had this one for 5 years. The large first right branch makes some folks cringe, but it's part of the character of the tree and looks better in person!

John, I love your Dogwood. Don't You have another one, how does it look?

Unfortunately, the other one had some die back of branches last year for reasons unclear to me...it has been weakening for a couple of years. I previously repotted it into a larger pot and am hoping it will recover.

That's to bad, hope You can get it healthy again, it is a very good tree.

I have never seen one at a 'regular' nursery. Most of the dogwoods sold in US nurseries are Cornus florida or perhaps Cornus kousa. Cornus mas is similar to C.officinalis, but I haven't seen that either. The flowers on C. florida are large and I don't know how the leaves or internodes would reduce.
