The larch is better in the winter season, wonderful bark that breaks branching and very rustic.  ThumbsUp

It's larch season. Only deciduous tree I have that's worth showing bare-a-- naked.

Show us your BONES Img_0612

American larch collected north of the St. Lawrence River 2003. Purchased from Dave Easterbrook in 2007. One trunk from Herkimer County, NY added in 2009. Pot by Nick Lenz. Stand from Jim's Woodworks. Accent plant is dwarf river rush. It grows in wet places like the larch. Accent pot was purchased at the National, but I didn't get the potter's name.

Thanks. As the saying goes, I should live so long. Meanwhile, I enjoy it as is. It doesn't look bad in the summer either, as long as I pinch constantly. Next year I'm going to try 0-10-10 April-June or July. Unfortunately, its peak fall color only lasted a week and I didn't get a chance to take a picture.

Some really great trees there but I was beginning to think it was a Larch only thread!

Just to help mix it up a bit more here's a pic of my large twin trunk Field Maple without its leaves.

By the way Lordy, you don't say what your trees are.

Elm? Zelkova?

My apologies. The first is Japanese Hornbeam, second is Zelcova, and the overhead photo is of a previously troubled Chinese Elm.

thats a nice one richard its kind of funny how you said this looked like a larch thread only at first it did. that was not my intention i only grow larch juniper and pines so with that being said larches are the only ones in my collection that drop there foliage during winter i love the look for trees without their foliage. i've heard the thought of someone putting a show together during the winter with only trees that drop there foliage

<<It is probably Michele Smith of mc2 pottery.>>

Thanks. I think it says mc2 on the bottom.

<<I've heard the thought of someone putting a show together during the winter with only trees that drop their foliage.>>

They just had one in North Carolina December 7-8. It is popular in Japan.
