Literati Junipers?
It seems that i've been seeing alot of literati junipers lately and i LOVE the way they look. I live in buffalo NY and most junipers that i see grow down as ground cover. What it the best juniper to use to make the literati / upright form?
Thanks,
Neil

Hello Neil. All the Junipers, including the ground cover varieties, are good for literati. Ground cover ones, if wired up or tied to a cane, will make convincing trees in a relatively short period of time.

The upright literati style is not really natural for junipers. The easiest way to get one is to take a common ground cover juniper like Blue Rug or procumbens 'Nana,' and stake it upright however you want the trunk to look, and keep it staked until the trunk is stiff enough to stand by itself.

Wow Jim, that tree is stunning!! Just like an old tall pine in the woods, with its crown fighting for light above all the other trees and all the other branches died from lack of light.
