Here is a little shohin Chinese Elm grown from a cutting. I tried to make it a formal upright but it would not cooperate so this year I converted it to a semi-cascade. I can't recall who made the pot but I believe it was a BSF Convention favor from a few years ago. The tree needs a year or two to fill in.

Lovely little tree Rob. Not keen on this pot for the composition though. Looks like its toppled over. Maybe a bit more stability needed?

For some reason I like this tree growing out of the egg-pot the way it is! From Upright to Cascade Elm Icon_biggrin Very nice combination!

Very Happy I like this tree and pot combination. It might not be the formal pot choice but it works and evokes a pleasing image to me with some tension.
Regarding stability, I am sure the counterbalance branch at the right will make up for it when developed further, or the stability of the base of the tree will do so.
I really like it.

Morten

Rob,

i think its the bonsai that came first, then a bird built a nest on it, then the egg came, then the egg fell on the ground, then the seed of an elm fell inside that broken egg...then your nice tree grows in it.
ok, the egg is fine... if you can find a beige colored egg (ostrich egg ) pot, or gray egg, IMHO its more natural looking.

regards,
jun

I read the title that Raghav Agrawal has put to his post, i.e. "may i call it semi cascade" and I wonder, doesn't this seem reasonable?
Raghav Agrawal has not written a word more than the title, so perhaps his post was not so.... clear scratch

Semicascade would be more appropriate but hey, you can call it whatever you want.

I found a photo of it from its earlier state. Didn't look like much then.
