Nano reef keeping is just as it sounds I have a full fledged salt water reef tank of all of about 8 gallons.apporx 30 liters when you factor in sand and live reef rock the displacement drops to 4-5 galons total water volume 15 to 18 liters total water volume.

What do I do for fun?? A rare commodity for someone with a 6 & 8 year old running around!!!
Here’s my list of “fun” things that float my boat:
Red Wine
Graphic Design (for fun and sometimes profit!!)
Watching F1 Motorsport & sometime go-karter
Beer
My beloved Chelsea
Making model Formula 1 cars (from kits & semi scratch built)
Collecting Williams F1 memorabilia
(and trying to complete all the cars from 1969 - 150 so far & counting!!)
White Wine
Gardening
Supporting Mark Webber and producing special “one offs” to go in his collection
Planning Stuff (bonsai projects, models, design – and usually failing badly!!)
more Red Wine……………………..
Okk, Okk,
Simon

Howzit Bobby,
I do both. I was fortunate to learn this art from the old school of training. My dad came from the Philippines in 1946. He was one of the last of the contract immigrants to work the sugar fields in Hawaii. With him came a lot of Escrimdors looking to start a new life on Maui. A lot of these Escrimdors fought the Japanese when they invaded the Philippines. Back in the old days the Filipinos were very secretive about there arts so they would practice at night some times under the moonlight. We all lived in plantation camps and they would come over my dad's place to practice. I remember back then, looking thought the window watching them practice and my mom would say "Boy, go away!! You no can do this yet!!" Do you practice Kali/Escrima?
Mag-ingat Ka,
-Tim

nah - I'm a wing chun man. I love the phillipino styles though and if I had the time and money I'd look into them. there's some very good teachers around here. More interested in the open hand stuff than the weapons stuff though. ots of similarities with wing chun. thinking of doing some aikido for the locks and throws too. how long you been practicing?

Re: what else do we do for fun?
I've been doing this for awhile now. There's a misconception about Kali/Escrima because most fighting arts starts with hand to hand training. Where as Kali/Escrima they use Escrima sticks or Espada y Daga and from there transcends down to hand to hand. Because the movements are almost the same with weapons it's faster to learn hand to hand. There's also locks and throws in Filipino fighting arts, you just have to find the right teacher.

yeah - it's an interesting difference doing it weapons first, but then my wing chun teacher says that it's bleeding obvious really - they all grew out of battlefield combat, so weapons are obviously first. There's a quite renowned teacher near me, but alas, wing chun twice a week and a boxing class, plus maths lessons and a full time job means my time is very limited. do you know how similar kali escrima is to silat? I've sparred against a VERY good silat man and it was awesome.
