Wednesday workshop photo shoot

Hi,
A few displays for your thoughts.
First my blackthorn yet again, well it is in flower.

My Mugo pine.

John's Acer, he'll hopefully tell use the variety.


I love the vibrant green it shows.

Chris's blackthorn.



Chris re-angled the tree for the next shot.

A good move IMHO.

My larch.

Finally, John's black pine.


We discuss the righthand branch.



John agrees and removes a small portion for now, with the option of cutting a bit more at a later date.

We also thought it should be on the other side of the scroll.



I had a great day photographing, chatting and playing with the displays.

Your blackthorns in the UK look stunning, already in flowers !!
My Cornish blackthorn is keeping her buds still closed,
remember from last year she was also late in showing `springdress`.

Your blackthorn slightly turned looks indeed much better
for presentation.
In another topic ,avalon, i saw You also had a high wooden stand with
the blackthorn, i liked that very much, also very appropiate for avalon.
this summer,i collect some accents which i think belong to Your avalon
and bring them as i come to Burrs , avalon is shouting in my head very often

It looks very special , does it have 2 pictures ?

a bit difficult to see,but that,s my thought.

Hi Morea,
I keep chickens. Last December, one landed on the mugo and it did a 360 and hit the floor, smashing to pieces, so I had to do an emergency repot.

Yes I also feel this scroll is "cooking with gas."
It is infact a scroll with age. It's feeling is, I feel, down to it's age and good quality. Such that it will always evoke the refined qualities I seek, when it is presented.

Yep, that's what John told me and I immediately forgot. Thank you for reminding me.

Seeing images like these shows me I've got a long way to go but what wonderful inspiration.

Beautiful displays.

Really interesting to see how changing angles and positions of the trees can create different images.

The Blackthorn facing towards the front with the red sun scroll is stunning.

I hope you chased that chicken all over your garden shouting Welsh profanaties at it . I've lost 3 Erin pots to my cats knocking them over - both cats have since been threatened with a visit to the river Their response was to use the pot I keep my large Privet in as a toilet for a few days! My dog - a clumsy big female Rottweiler with a love of walking backwards has somehow strangely managed to avoid doing any damage to trees or pots. If only I could get her to stand on a cat......

What a pitty , it was such a special pot !

Must say , i do like Your chickens ,
the one with the punk feathers made me laugh
very loud behind the sceen.
He -she ? looks like just waiting for the right moment to
jump again !!

Jerry , does one see often scrolls with two different paintings on it ?
Do You know why the artist did this ?
Mabey because he had no money for new paper ?

Somewhere on my computer I have a record of the info. that came with the scroll fom Japan, but I can't find it at the mo, I'll keep looking.
Would / could any of our IBC Japanese scholars enlighten us?
