Beginner need help on Ficus and Bouganville
Hi,
I like plants growing in wild and I always let them grow to the fullest in the pots in my last 20 year of service to them. Recently i started liking the Bonsai Plants and found the two plants as prospective bonsai materail.
Please comment and guide
I live in India having humid climate and Soil comprising of 90% Clay which gets rock hard after 3-4 months of watering.
thanks
Yogesh

I can give you no real help on the ficus, but for now I'd certainly recommend that you put it into a much wider (but shallow) pot. That pot is TINY for the size of the tree. And while you are at it, you can remove those roots that cross the others.
On soil, you will do better finding a gravel of some sort toi plant in, rather than clay. There are bonsai clubs in India. Here is a list. Maybe one is near you. A club is the best way to learn.

Jim : For Ficus are u suggesting separating the two or only the overlapped roots to be removed. We have no clubs in Kolkata. Thanks fo searching the same for me.
Leonardo : I will also send the pic after defoliation to fecilitate a review.

Hi YogeshJi,
Are there two trees in the same pot?? Peepal & bargad?? I'm talking about 1st pic.
I think you need to separate them and go for a bigger pot. both trees have great potential.
Faisal.
