Re: From the SANSAI kiln
Excellent pots with great surfaces. Your design looks like the old Paul Soldner red brick raku kiln. Have you ever seen that one?

I love your pots, particularly your Chamber Pot! I can only imagine how you felt with the fallen shelves; all that work!

Tom
The last pot pictures you posted are wonderful I adore the surface texture and colours you get from a Wood firing. One day I will get my hands on a wood firing kiln, one day
Thanks for showing
Regards
Andy

Tom Benda wrote:My best firing (- results, not "the quickiest") took just 8 hours, this "overdone" :-) firing 10 hours...
Will, the glazes were influenced by temperature and ash a lot this time. Not just glazes, my whole kiln is covered by lots of glass.
The colours come from metal oxides, carbonates... Just the very last one - the exceptional for me - walls "painted" just by fire!, upper rim glazed a bit.
My kiln for You :-)
"The exceptional" once again
Hi Tom - Your pots are so beautiful, next time - could you put some measure in cm on.
Other pots:
Rob, thanx for photos and give Terry my regards. Next time You visit me I´ll fire my kiln :-)

Hi Tom,
great pots, love the archaic finish of these glazes, due to your kind of firing.
Would like to get the damaged pot shown in the pic below - is it available? If yes, please save it for me.
I do love pots with a "special history".
Best regards Horst

If you are coming in Croatia, you are welcome in my garden!
And about pots, at this moment we have enough, maybe in future.

Hi Horst,
sorry, this pot is not available
Yes! I save this pot for You, of course I do!
Inside it is 44x34cm and I think it is not able to stand on all four feets properly. But it still can be used for bonsai.
Thank You all very much. I must say that this firing didn´t etiolate me, just vice-versa - it encouraged me so much! I´ve never felt such a taste to ceramics before! And together with all Your comments, I really feel the power

Re: From the SANSAI kiln
I took further photos.
First, this pot broke in bisque firing already. But it made my imagination excited :-)
I tried my own new glaze on this crock. The result delighted me.
I got the colour, which I´m long time looking for. And I got it through my own recipe. And this recipe contains the stone-powder from the local quarry!
And here are two pots from the fallen shelves. I miss this one, but I can do it again and maybe better :-)
This has a great glaze in real

Re: From the SANSAI kiln
I love the pots!!!!! I am sorry about the collapse but I am glad you are not to disheartened. Some of those broken pots can still make for some good pots. If you have not seen Robert Stevens book he has several really fun plantings in broken pots. I would take it as an opportunity to do something wild with them. Thanks for sharing, I am getting more and more excited to make my own pots after seeing your pots.
Thanks, Robert

Re: From the SANSAI kiln
Last days I finally got into my workshop, lair for overwintering
But my daughter got ill and I had to come upstairs and care for her.
I took some few tools and a lump of clay.
My wife came back home and took an image:
Here some few green pots, all of them hand made without mould and potterswheel
I am especially proud of these two. The one on the right side is an older sister, carved in sommer night, coincidentally in our kitchen+dining room too.
I call these sisters "Proud princesses", inspired by our Czech fairytale "Proud princess".
I am proud about the unusual design, especially the lower rim creating the sole.
Here are the princesses in sexy positions

Wonderful pots, I envy your kiln, mine is a small electric kiln with manual sitter. It can only fire three of my chuhin sized pots at a time.

Thank You all.
Andy, I don´t plan these to be glazed. But I´m thinking about a little bigger one and glazed. And then I have a problem - I´m not sure if I have a glaze good enough for such a proud princess

Re: From the SANSAI kiln
I was punished for my blasphemous behavior. I shouldn´t share pictures of green pots.
I had another accident, in today´s bisque firing. I still don´t know the extent of damage. I´ll open the kiln tomorrow.
The fire chamber is divided in two. There were some few papers and twigs in both.
One started slowly to burn, the other not. It seemed like the first part´s smoke is going out through the second part of firing place.
But suddenly both chambers started to burn, it was like an explosion. Yes, many explosions I´ve heard, from the inside... I hope that every other explosion wasn´t from another and another pot...

Dale and I have the same philosophy and paranoia about showing green ware, eh Dale? So beware the Evil Green Ware God who has no shame in taking his share of the kiln load Hope your losses are not too bad, I know how bad it feels when this happens especially when they are commission pots

Re: From the SANSAI kiln
Andy, thank You. The EGG (Evil Greenware God ) reached for the greatest damage - the big commission pot, first strike in the flames. There is some small damage on a few pots, but nothing that bad. The best pot survived.
It is even better than "proud princess" - which survived too. Ok, let´s go on :-)
