Yes indeed, I don't know how easy it is to send you seeds, but once or twice a year I go to The Bogor Botanical Gardens, founder 1817 by the order of the government of the Dutch East Indies.

It covers an area of 87 hectares (210 acres) and contains 13,983 different kinds of trees and plants of various origin. The geographic position of Bogor means it rains almost daily, even in the dry season. This makes the Garden an advantageous location for the cultivation of tropical plants. 26 ears ago I did get some seeds for a friend in Australia, mostly palm seeds.

If you give me some names and if they are available, I could send some. I plan actually to get some for my self.

At present there is a Mahogany tree in fruit, (seed ball, will make some picture tomorrow), I will observe and try to get them, they split open like an small explosive, since there is a lot of traffic (toll road entrance) it will be swept clean daily. Right time right moment is wanted.

The seeds I want is Pithecellobium Tortum (Brazilian Raintree) not the normal Raintree Monkey Pod (samanea saman) these are commonly available I also ordered from Australia. I can get Acacia seeds if you require I can post them to you. Pic sample of Pithecellobium Tortum seeds

and i think the word "brat" has a different meaning for us yanks Razz
(short for bratwurst)

Very confusing...  Laughing

Brat show! I've always hated snotty kids!  Razz

SA "Braai" = UK  or US "BarBQ"

But I suppose it an acronym for "Bonsai Regional Association Transvaal"?

BTW "barbecue" comes from the French. When the roasted a whole goat in the middles ages, they would roast it "de barbe à queue", litterally "from beard to tail". It went to England with William the Conqueror's army in 1066.

The word was lost in French, then came back in its English form (like others like "tunnel", "ticket", "tennis", etc.)

Nice Brats one could dig into.

Has anybody tried to grow Mahogany from seeds.
I believe getting them into a foreign country nowadays may be a problem. I will go up there in due time to check whats available, can't hurt to put some into an envelope and send them across :fc: .
Any suggestion what to take on tropical seeds is welcomed.
