stubborn deciduous bud encouragement ?
i have a couplafew deciduous trees that have buds that are being just plain 'ol stubborn and won't break
(carolina hornbeam, wisteria, korean maple)
i feel that they should have popped by now and was wondering if there is something i could do to "nudge" them along...
maybe a little extra nitrogen ?
superthrive ?
(you hush jim)
a kick in the pot ?
or just let them be and wait it out...

Cooler and wetter than normal here in, as you call it, Neee-braska. Don't know if my cherries will ripen on the Northstar tree. Same for you, just need some sun and warmth?

I would leave them to their own devices. Trees in the ground here only started putting out leaves the last 2 weeks. Some of my trees have popped while others haven't. If the tree is alive it will pop when its ready, if its dead than its not gonna pop no matter when you do.

I'd leave them alone. Even down here in Heatandhumidityville I have a crape myrtle that just popped its first bud last week. Some trees I've already defoliated.

Oh now..... we all surely know by now, that MATERIAL to the Bonsai Fool at his work, will surely become a MASTERPIECE one day to those brave enough to see it, as such?
