The reason i say you can re-pot from now on in is, if you have a Bonsai pot to suit, the beauty of this is that if you do wish to exibit the tree during the winter the surface soil be new and weed free, also, if after a month or two you feel the pot is not ideal or the tree needs re-positioned you have lots of time to correct the problem. If you wait till the tree starts to bud in the spring you only get one chance!!

it all depends upon what zone you're in. If you were in zone 7 (where I am) you would lose at least half of your trees if you potted them now. The roots would not have had a chance to adapt themselves and would be unable to push water up into the branches. However, if you live in zone 10, your idea might work.

??? sorry this makes absolutely no sense at all and is definitely not a practice you or anyone else should partake in.Gordon Baird wrote:The reason i say you can re-pot from now on in is, if you have a Bonsai pot to suit, the beauty of this is that if you do wish to exibit the tree during the winter the surface soil be new and weed free, also, if after a month or two you feel the pot is not ideal or the tree needs re-positioned you have lots of time to correct the problem. Those in more temperate climates can repot now through winter with no ill effects. I start now and repot untill Feb when my trees start pushing. And yes I have repotted a tree twice during winter because I was not happy with the pot. I think sometimes people forget where they are and do not realize that not everyone can just jerk their plant out in Nov. and Dec. and repot. All of my maples get repotted now after leaf drop so they can be exhibited in the winter sillouettes exhibit here locally.
