Help styling new maple

Hi Guys,

I just got a new maple as stock, it looks to have been left to grow for a fair amount of time and i'm stuck as to what styling direction to take.

Is the lowest branch to low? it is leaning so straiting it would make the lowest branch much higher up the trunk









any opinions would be great!

I would probably keep the low branch and airlayer the top 1/2 of the tree in the late spring. The trunk is fairly thin with straight sections, but I think a nice informal upright could be made from the lower 1/3 to 1/2. There are lots of branches in the top which is why I would airlayer as opposed to just cutting it off. The images you posted are a little small to really see the details of the tree so it will be difficult to give much more than general feedback.

Definitely better when I click on them now - perhaps I did not do the right type of click last time. http://evergreengardenworks.com/ generally has some good stuff on airlayers and similar things if you decide to go that way.
