Ficus philippinenes?

A vendor here in Florida sells a Ficus he identifies as "philippineses? Can someone correct mt spelling of the and point to information on the variety/ If it even exists.

It's a Strangler fig, philippinensis aka nuda. You have probably seen it many times in the landscape..

Corection, it's not the Florida Strangler fig (aurea) that you see in the landscape, it's a Bejamina variety (nuda) and an epiphyte.

This is one of my Philippinensis.









Back budding and ramification is nice on this species.

Like Dorothy explains; is called a philippinensis var. nuda.

What are this white things going down?

How is this species when it comes to backbudding and leaf reduction? I've contemplated buying one, but the benjamina look of the leaves has scared me away. Benjamina don't do too well up here in the North.

Hi Ryan.

Very tricky. some branches tend to die back. Do not rely on leaf reduction, like most species of ficus (and tropical trees) the technique should focus on branch ramification.
