I've read many articles that try to relate bonsai with other subjects on life. I though it would be fun to talk on my blog about what we can learn about relationships while growing bonsai. Enjoy:

I read your blog, Penz. Reading and making my relationship as an example. I am new to the bonsai, may be two or three years, and my material is still the one that is easy to obtain around my house. Ficus, and some juniper i bought from nursery. 
One thing come to my mind after read your blog is, Absolutely true. We have to states our goals in our relationship. I mean, where to bring the relationship to. The same case with bonsai, we have to decide what kind of bonsai we will make, ( even we will make some adjustment in future ).

Achieving this goal is a long long journey, and the way we fill this period of time is the real substances, as a matter of of fact. I mean, that's a live. Our live is not when we reach our goal, but the progress how to reach them. The same with bonsai, the progress to make the bonsai is the aspect the most i like, rather than the bonsai itself ( remember, bonsai is the never ending progress).

I didn't say that the final result doesn't matter. It does a matter.

Thanks for posting this thread, it open up my mind.

What keeps you from turning into - a living dead - is achievements.
What keeps you rising with joy in the early morning, just to watch the sun rise, is having things to do.
What allows you to just touch the head to the pillow and fall asleep is a peaceful mind.

Bonsai is an achievement, with just keeping the tree/shrub healthy over years. Good design helps but is not essential, it requires - no patience - just a love for trees. That love extends to all you do and when you sleep.
That is the real gift of Bonsai.

Bonsai in the doing relaxes the mind, allows one to handle situations, such as friendship or animosity or indifference from day to day goings on.

At the end of it all, Bonsai could be pea sized or 4 man to lift pots. This is why I enjoy the smaller sizes more than the big stuff, intimate love.
