An observation on the average height of say 2 to 3 feet [61 to 91 cm ] with Japanese trees

Morning Folks,

as I am attempting to thicken a lower branch on a fukien tea. I have suddenly realised that with a branch of 10' [ 3 m ] I may get an inch [ 2.5 cm ] around the base of the branch and this shrub is coarse as branchlets go.

So perhaps this is why so many Japanese trees stay around 2 to 3 feet [ 61 to 91 cm ]?
That it would take a long time to coarsen the fine branchlets at these sizes ?

Whereas at mame' or shohin sizes the coarsening would come in faster and be a great deal of work for the professionals that tend to other's trees?
Apart from the fact that 2 to 3 feet [ 61 to 91 cm ] is a good show off height / size as well.

Just wondering?
