The Skeleton Yew...its final resting place

Remember this yew I traded with David Barlow for a monster Escallonia?

I potted the tree in its final show pot... I love the steep side of the pot..it gives the impression that the tree is 'floating'

All it needs to do now is fill out...

The photo does not really do the tree justice... the tree is off to one side but not quite as much as shown in this photo... the off center gives visual 'tension' I think

Visual tension, indeed! I know it's an optical (or photographic) illusion, but the tree looks like it just finished walking the tight rope which is suggested by the edge of the table in the background.

Hi Tony very nice tree, however the pot is not convincing me, something is wrong I cant put a finger on it though (what the problem is) if I only could make virtuals, so i could show you some other pot options.

You need to see the tree in real life.... it's 'balance' is different. How oft have we discussed 'do you style a tree for display or for a photograph' you are all invited to my garden to make up your minds

Nice to see the "The Skeleton" in the Kilika pot you got at Noelanders. Very nice indeed. Hope you and the family are well, am potting like crazy for the BSA 09 show. Noelanders was worth while in more ways than one as I have just been invited to Brittany to do a show

Hi Andy... I will be at BSA on Sunday Morning ... No doubt you and the Wirral boys will have gone to bed early ... had a great nights sleep ... and after you have had your morning run , breakfasted on fruit and oatmeal you will be ready to walk the exhibition with me

I love this tree! Would like to see it in person. Another fine example of anthropomorphism in a tree increasing it's emotional content.

Hi!

I like the tree, it is a very good Bunjin. The only thing that I think could have less visual weight is the first Jin in the left, I think it is a little bit oversized and this fact attract too much attention to this specific point of the tree. Maybe with this changed the tree could look EVEN more better than it is actually. If it were mine (unfortunatly it isn't ) maybe I would consider of cutting the Jin of totally.

I like the pot and I don't think the tree is too much off centered, the deadwood in the right balance the position of the tree in the pot.

I’ve got further to travel than you Andy, well at least another 9 miles!!!

I think I should be alright as I’ve had my jabs, got my “Norf/Sauf” phrase book but my wife has hidden my drinking boot s so I might have to be the sensible sober one (every gathering needs one!)
