Very nice tree. How do you picture the future development of this tree? Do you plan on a development that exposes the fine branch detail we see in the 2012 styling photo, or are you going to fill out the foliage pads as the latest photo seems to indicate with the tree in a bonsai pot?

I've been waiting for the tree to establish a better root system and then begin foliage reduction and more defined foliage pads.

That's going to be a beautiful tree! I love the energy in the roots.

you need to keep the crown rather small imho, because the standing roots give it more or less a feminin look. A large crown suggest a mascular tree.
the pot in which it is now need to be changed into one with no or smaller rim, big rim is also for mascular trees.
just my opinion,

Still waiting to find the right pot. That was a mica pot that was available. I'm also waiting for the roots to develop more, especially on the main root before determining a new pot for it.Weeijk wrote:you need to keep the crown rather small imho, because the standing roots give it more or less a feminin look. Too "hairy", but great tree: would like to see it with 2/3rds of the needles removed.
I like it a lot

It's "hairy" because I'm still pushing growth on it in order to improve the roots. I'll probably start to work on needle size reduction this growing season. Scotch respond very well and can wind up with about 1/2 inch size needles.AlainK wrote:Too "hairy", but great tree: would like to see it with 2/3rds of the needles removed.
