Favorite species to Bonsai? ''poll''

Just wanted to get an idea of everyones favorite species to bonsai.

I vote for oaks.

I'm afraid your survey is both too limited and too general. Too limited in that those are only a few of the kinds of trees that many of us bonsai, and too general in that those aren't "species" they are Genera, or groups of related trees. Within those will be the individual "species" that people prefer. Also too general in that we may all have several "favorites."

That said, Lagerstroemia indica (Crape myrtle) is rapidly becoming A favorite for me. But then there are various species and crosses of azalea, privet, the list continues.

I agree thanks for you input it's hard with only 10 options, I guess with ''other'' I should have asked people to list theirs (like you did).

Being a beginner I just wanted a general idea of what most people prefer.

Maybe get rid of figs, ficus should cover it. For me... boxwood, elm, ficus, and more "others" than you can list (azalea, shefflera, cypress, elaeagnus, camellia, ginkgo, crape myrtle...)

where you live makes a huge impact too.

i'm varied juniper sp, black pines, japanese maples.

voted juniper though as i get on pretty well with them
