help with heat stressed trees

I just returned from the hospital having received an emergency heart by-pass. My wife called my neighbor while we waited for the helicopter to watch our pets and plants. She did a commendable with the job of keeping my 30 trees alive watering daily and moving some into full shade however some show stess related leaf and bloom issues. We have had 90F plus with wind condition while I was hospitalized. Usually in these conditions I would monitor 3 times a day. What can my wife do tonight to help out the mimosaforest planting and potentella which are very stressed.

Glad to hear you are up and out of the hospital, hope you are back up and playing with your trees in no time. Not that i am an expert in any way, and I am not sure of the size, soil, or size and depth of the pot the trees are planted in, but several of my mimosa started feeling the effects of our recent 103 heat wave, and what worked for me was simply to mulch in or cover any exposed surface roots to keep them cooler and to avoid baking/drying in the sun, as I also have them potted in very well draining soil I also started to place each pot into a larger tub of water each day for about 30 minutes or as needed to keep the soil moist, this has perked them all up and even started a new burst of growth, or so it seems. The potentilla I am not as familiar with yet. Best of luck and hopefully the heat will break soon.

I recently spoke to my sister and she said in So Missouri mimosa are nearly impossible to kill in her yard. (source of my trees) My wonderful wife moved them to the north side of the house and she is immersing them as we speak. Thank you so much

Mimosa in pots are quite different from Mimosa in the ground, but they are a very tough tree. Shade and not letting them dry out will probably be sufficient.

But don't worry so much about the trees. Get yourself better first. Trees are 100% replaceable.

Have you been talking to my wife? She said the same thing.(not about the mimosa about my health.) I am taking care of myself and was very fortunate to have no heart damage. My wifes involuntary involvment with my trees has sparked her interest in bonsai and mentioned "her" trees looked pretty good. She is a master gardener so they are in good hands. Thanks for the info.
