Has anyone worked with this birch before? I haven't found a ton of reading material about it, other than the various sales descriptions, got a good deal on a 2 year seedling that I plan to grow out just haven't been able to find a lot of info on the tree itself and how it performs as a material for bonsai.

Trost's dwarf weeping birch? Empty Trost's Dwarf

I had one. It is a cultivar of Betula pendula, so follow the instructions for that species. Mine died from poor drainage, so be careful of the soil. It does make a good bonsai candidate if you remember that its grandmother was a feather duster. Tie it down in windy weather, as the foliage catches the wind like a sail. I found no advantage from growing it in the ground, so it might develop well in a large training pot. They say it takes years before it will grow white bark in captivity, so be patient. Good luck. thumbs up
