As Kev says - "Wow"! I particularly love the Roble raft, but the majority of the trees are simply stunning. We just don't get to see the tropical species over here in the UK so when people give us posts like this, it is truly eye-opening. Thank Jose.

Jose,
thanks for taking the time to post all these photos. That took a lot of work.
The trees were great. Lots of variety and all from a relatively small area - the island of Puerto Rico.
You ficus was amazing. I heard a rumor that Min Shaun Lo worked on that tree. Was it true?
I enjoyed my trip - especially the free rum.

All the event is a lesson of work with TROPICAL.
Here in Brazil, in this generation, we will not have something of this level.
Also we do not have Pedro Morales.

MARVELOUS BONSAI Thank you for the excellent photos
If you don't mind I'd would like some advice about the Neea buxifolia, I have recently become the owner of a chuhin size neea and have wondered about whether is perfers shade or full sun? I know that Minnesota is not very tropical but I have a buttonwood [conocarpus erectus] that has thrived for 15 years with special care.
Best regards,
Norma

Norma,
Neea Buxifolia is a very forgiving plant. It grows in the hills of Puerto Rico and as an underbrush species, it likes humidity. I have mine in full sun. It prefers a well draining medium, but will tolerate a sustrate with organic matter.
Kind regards,
Jose Luis

It was a sweep for China as Chinese trees took the top three awards.
I believe we in the west are just scratching the surface of the amazing bonsai in China. I have witnessed some of it as Vice President of Bonsai Club International. BCI has been growing in China and there are probably more bonsai growers in China than in the rest of the world combined. And they have been doing bonsai for centuries.
