I took some cuttings off this ficus I had. Will the cuttings develope the same huge root?

How can I encourage branch growth once the cuttings have taken root?

Overwater, the big, fat, ugly root is water storage, if the plant has too much water it does this. The big, fat, ugly root will develop below ground and you will later expose the big, fat, ugly root to the world.

well I think It's "big, fat, prosperity" that's the reason why this kind of shape can be found all over the world. (China export)
I too think it's no bad to have one among your collections.
