re what to do with this acacia
hi ka pabling, great material, i like pic no. 1 < tilted over > but i dont like the lower trunk it opposes the main trunk, but whichever way you go i know its going to look good. again for me its a species i,v not seen as bonsai and i,v got lots growing around my house but not with great deadwood like yours, have you got a photo of one with finished foliage it would be interesting to see how they are refined . regards john

what to do with this acacia
Hi John,
In a separate thread, the title is Aroma (acacia Fornesiana) you will see the development of acacia. I am now looking for a suitable limestone where I can plant this acacia. I want the overall design to be more exotic.
Best regards

What to do with this acacia
Good day IBC
Our bonsai group met today for a workshop. The goal was to arrive at a suitable design for the acacia,It was the consensus of the group to try something exotic and challenging. First we tried looking for an appropriate pot but we thought putting it in a pot will not be so challenging., we agreed to try mounting it in a rock. we looked around and found this large limestone rock.

The more suggestions, the more confusion,

Jun was supposed to be here but he was out of town supervising a project

some possible options

and more options,

The guy with white tshirt trying fit the tree is Alan"the magician" Ramos ( I gave him that middle name), he is one of the best bonsai artist in this part of the globe.

Thanks Cram,
The next problem is how to make this stone stand on its own. If we are going to make it stand errect, there is no problem, it will be so easy, even with its weight.,but we decided that the rock should lean almost 45 degrees!as shown in the pictures. We need some engineers to help us with this.
The next one would be the placement of the tree, normally the tree will be mounted in the upper portion of the rock, we want to make it more difficult by mounting the tree on the opposite side.
The tree will be hanging.
Wish us luck Cram!

Can you make a drawing Cram?

Re: What to do with this acacia
Hi Cram,
As I have explaind, what we have in mind is a leaning rock about 45 degrees the tree is clinging on the lower side. The dead wood is on top, the tip is almost of the same height of the rock. the live part cascading.
Now you have the opprtunity to contribute your share for this challenging project!
Thanks,

Now that the rock could stand with the reinforcing bars, its time to put the cement mortar,

we will have to wait one week for the curing of the cement, then we can start carving the stone for the mounting of the tree.
Best wishes

Hi Cram.
Thanks for your drawings,The first drawing is more likely to be what we will do exept the pot. For the pot, we will probably use one that looks like the one in your second drawing.
Best regards

Re: What to do with this acacia
Oh, my, my!
I never thought of that design both of you have envisioned (Ka Pabling and Cram). That Acasia has been sitting in front of my terrace for 8 months and I never really seriously thought of any design suited to its deadwood. Now as a lesson learned.... I should have carved my name on the wood before giving a material to friends. Goodluck Ka Pabling, it now has a great future unlike when it was with me; it might stagnate for another couple years or maybe more. Glad to have joined IBC.

Jolz

Ka Pabling,
Good day my Mentor, what a great creativity that you made in that tree, but i really fascinated in the manner on how you just clamp this tree in the limestone, and if this limestone would serve as the tree medium for growth considering that there are no soil visible in the said picture, kindly please educate me on the process that you have done to this tree, because i have one piece here if you still remember (Balite in the adobe rock) and im planning to transfer it to a better rock formation, though balite tree is not that so sensitive..
