I see a wire wrapped around the trunk above the first branch. Are you asking for advice on whether or not you should air-layer the tree?

How tall is your tree?? IT has a really good trunk line to me..why do you want to air layer it ?? this is just a question no harm is ment by this.. i would just trim back the long shoots and style a tree with the whole trunk. just my opion because i really like the tree .i wish it was mine..john in west virginia thanks

i'm justing asking it(air layer) because i think the trunk is too straight at the beginnig...

I THINK ,the height would be about 20 inches right??? i do not think the lower trunk ie too strigth.. i would still prune back the branches and see what it looks like...you can still air layer if you want to.. my opion only let us know ok...luck john
