The art of bonsai design book review
The art of bonsai design by Colin Lewis imo is a fantastic read. For anyone interested in the following species English Elm, Juniper, Scotch Pine and Larch I’m sure you wont be disappointed. Each species is presented as a number of case histories and shows how each tree was developed from quite humble beginnings into stunning bonsai over a period of years. Colin also shares some in-depth information on some of the idiosyncrasies of each species so you’ll be closer to getting the best out of your chosen tree. This book is all about designing beautiful trees, and not about the fundamentals of feeding, potting, and general care etc. So if you don’t have this book in your collection and you’re interested in improving your design skills on any one of the above species I highly recommend this book.

Re: The art of bonsai design book review
Thanks Fuzzy, I have a few English Elms and at present I'm the only one I know that does. Barely an honorable mention in most books, so I'll be glad to have a read. I just happen to have a four footer (dia.) in my front yard, plus all her little children. They tend to grow very upright and spindly, but I'm a fan anyway, ever the champion of the odd and obscure.

Of all the books I bought when I first started, and they numbered quite a few, Colin Lewis's bonsai design was the one I gleaned the most from. He used to use this forum and it would be really good to have him back.

Thanks Fuzzy, for the info I will be sure to pick it up. It is very helpful when the more experienced like yourself, Will and RKatzin endorse books and articles on Bonsai. Also I greatly appreciate the help and advise you all give. At times I am completly lost..
