Wood Suiseki

I cut a lot of firewood, and I trimmed this off a dead log that broke when it fell.  It looked so cute that I kept it and did not throw it in the stove.

Very nice. Now all it needs is a carved stone stand!

I really do like it and wonder what it would look like with a good clear finish.

I am thinking of letting it gray naturally in the sun. Naturally gray wood seems to me to resemble real mountains, and also most like the procedure with real suisekis

Good point, but I really like the contrast between the different wood colors that would most likely be lost in natural aging. However, I seem to be a sucker for amber and brown tones in wood as well as blue tree foliage.
