john I was not sure if the "white thing" is good for my trees then I scraped it and spray with Lime Sulphur. It grown on molch since this year spring while cover of cold frame was closed. Yesterday I scraped and remove all molch and place already in my small and jap. maples hardy more sensitive trees. Just hope "white thing" will not harm my bonsais. Thanks for all advise

Mycelium is the body and root system of what makes mushrooms. Mushrooms are the fruit of the body. If you do nothing, you will get a crop of mushrooms, probably PDQ. Needless to say, don't eat them unless you recognize the species. Not very many fungi consume living material, like trees. They consume rotting materials. Do you have rotten trees? (Your friend's opinions notwithstanding...)

Or, just let it run its course. They will only eat your trees if they are rotten. I encourage mushrooms on my pots, but I've never been able to have some when it was show time. Someday...
