Re: Second thoughts on front
I think the new front is much better Jim. I like the roots and I'm sure you can adjust the foliage around if necessary.

Jim, the second photo not only has a better nebari, but you also lose the scar on the trunk at the base of the primary branch and what looks to be a chop scar on the primary branch itself. Higher branch positioning shows off more trunk movement. Looks like you have some fortuitous branches you can move around too. I don't see a downside to changing fronts.

Jim,
Why decide?
Both look good to me, but a side view is necessary to make a decision.
But, why not enjoy both sides?

Re: Second thoughts on front
I too like the second side. How can you pass up on that nebari? What would you need to do to change to this front? Aside from filling in the open space between branches a bit... It's hard to tell the angles of the lean from these photos.

Second for me too, the Nebari is very natural looking. The tree leans to the right and the left side of the roots are gripping the soil to prevent falling over.....

All . . . Thanks for your opinions. They have validated my own, and the second pic will be the PRIMARY front, though as Bill says, both could be used -- perhaps depending on what is blooming at any given time.
But for when it is NOT blooming -- most of the year, after all -- the second pic is da one.
abcd (hard to talk to an alphabet), at next repot I may try your suggestion.

I agree with abcd~I think adjust a little bit of the right branch would be very suitable

Re: Second thoughts on front
I managed to wire those two small branches down a bit. My hand are so shaky these days, I hesitate to wire much of anything, much less an azalea, but I managed it this time without breaking anything off. Yay! <g>
Again, thoughts appreciated. I think it looks better -- or will when those branches put on some weight.

Re: Second thoughts on front
Hello Jim,
I am going for the first front.
In the first foto is the nebari better and the curve above the upper branch is not visible. Here is the base thicker.
In the second foto you can see the curve on the right above the nebari and above the first branch it is hollow.
I saw that every one else is going for the second foto.
It is my opion.
Regards Rakesh
