advice needed on pruning

I would like to knock some of the height off of this tree and I would like any advice on style that you can give. I'm new to this forum and bonsai though this tree I've been working on for 5 years. I would also like to have a thicker trunk.

A picture will help. What kind of tree?
The mere act of cutting the top away will give the impression of a thicker trunk. Otherwise, a series of trunk chops, selection of new leaders, and TIME will be what you need to get a fat trunk. There are no shortcuts.
