The question has been asked in several different threads where are the tree identification guides.

Here are a couple that I occasionally use, feel free to comment on them and post your own preferred guide links.

The USDA Plants Database, in the menus there are guides, image galleries, and identification keys. There are many resources here;

Virginia Tech - VT Tree ID
http://dendro.cnre.vt.edu/dendrology/factsheets.cfm

for Midwest USA the UW - Wisflora is more a check list and image link than a identification key.

Tree Image collection at Univ. of Wisconsin

I'll start with a University of Florida paper on "How to Identify A Tree."  Follow these instructions and you don't need us.

https://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/fr296

Tree ID material:

Florida Forest Service - Trees of Florida (also available as a booklet for Fla. residents).

University of Florida - Trees of Florida:

This one appears to be someone's labor of love.

Trees, Shrubs, and Woody Vines of North Carolina

Addendum: Note that, except for tropical trees found only below Tampa, 90% of Florida's trees can be found up and down the eastern USA.

Hello Kirk! If you would like any assistance toward identifying those half dozen trees we are here to help as we can. A clear photo of the foliage and flowers together which information about the location or venue (i.e. nursery, etc.) from whence the tree came to you will all help greatly.

Yours,
David B.
