I cut out a small grape cutting and rooted it some years ago (I think in 2009).
Through regular prunning for literati style I had this form in last winter:

Sakaki / Grape (Literati) Asma_010

Sakaki / Grape (Literati) Asma_012

Sakaki / Grape (Literati) Asma_011

I bent it at the end of winter:

Sakaki / Grape (Literati) Asma_013

Sakaki / Grape (Literati) Asma_014

Today I got many leaves:

Sakaki / Grape (Literati) Asma_015

I plan to cut the section marked with red circle out in order to obtain the following form (and some grapes of course Very Happy ) in the following year/s:

Sakaki / Grape (Literati) Celebi10

Waiting for your criticisms and comments Smile

I think that a literati is a good style to showcase the grapes! I just collected a one myself a few days ago. How long has it taken yours for the branches to become rigid enough to stand on their own? I'm just thinking ahead for when I eventually style mine. Gorgeous tree and I'm excited to see it in the future!

Hello Jake!
Do you mean the "trunk" or "new branches"?
Branches are not enough rigid yet.
And the trunk just started to stand on its own last year:)

Thank you,

The trunk is probably what I should have said,I guess I was just thinking about the branches on mine Rolling Eyes . I figured that it might take a while for them gain decent rigidity but as yours seems to have gotten as tall as it needs to be(right?) the rest of the branches don't really need to grow upward as much anymore so (if I'm right which I could very well not be),you could start working on those branches.

Yes, I am happy with its current length, height & rigidity at the moment. However it could be thicker little Smile
But I think I will start working on branches next year.
By the way, mine is a fast growing species that is most preferred in my region due to commercial purposes.
I hope yours will become rigid soon!
Thank you for your kind wishes Smile

I like the proposed sketch...grape clusters can be heavy and will require some trunk thickening to support them.

A good point of view! Confused
I hope rigidity and thickness become better till next year. If not, we see clusters later than expected Sad
Thanks for pointing it out!
