Many of you know Mr. Cheng Cheng Kung for his work on junipers and pines, but he is also very good in designing and creating many other trees as well. First, Bougainvillea Glabra.

In Mr. Cheng's garden, he is not the only expert in bonsai. This tree has been trained by Cheng Cheng Kung's wife, Mrs. Chen Yueh Chu.

One of my favorite trees and species, Pemphis Acidula. Training and taking care of pemphis requires a lot of work. Also, they need salt water and won't tolerate cold temperatures.

A huge pemphis acidula. This tree was used as a demo material in the 4th Asia Pacific Bonsai and Suiseki Exhibition in Taipei (Taibei). Mr. Chiu Miau Yu, one of Mr. Cheng's top students assisted him during the demo.

A little corner of the garden. This is a faucet constructed by Mr. Cheng. The key is shaped like a bird.

ten-jin means (roughly) "weathered top of trunk" .. or a jinned apex. A jinned branch is an eda-jin.

Dave,

Since i know you like small sized trees, i posted the images of Mrs. Cheng's trees for you to observe. Later on i will post some images of Indonesian Shohin and several pictures of very beautiful shohin trees from Mr. Lee, an expert bonsai grower in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

Thanks for the rough translation of Ten Jin.

Kind regards,
Jose Luis

Dave,

Since you like shohin so much, i will include several more images. First, a small pemphis acidula. A small Hai Fu Long (pemphis) of this size and quality is next to impossible to find.
